Hey again.

Enjoy!

ARTICLE OF THE MONTH
I appreciate the ease and efficiency of nowadays internet (and not only), but there's something that bothers me about trying to make everything so easy. I think we’re just missing the opportunities to make things more beautiful or better otherwise. And this manifesto is right about that.
1. Making things beautiful

Anton Reponen — Street Signs of New York
How lovely to envision our utilitarian signs of public spaces reimagined into creative, bespoke, and colorful creations that would give each environment its own personal voice.
2. TouchDesigner Awesomeness

You’re into interactive, moving, distorted stuff? Then you’ll love this. Simon Alexander-Adams (aka Polyhop) is doing some cool things with TouchDesigner, and this series with morphing shapes/lenses is one of my favourites. Also, if you’re into TD, you can check his tutorials on YouTube.
3. A Fungus Among Us

This series of illustrations by Jenya Shtein two opposing qualities. They are both kinda cute and somewhat eerie at the same time. It makes me want to somehow look away but, well, I really want to see more. And you can find more on Are.na which, by the way, I would have never thought to use as a portfolio platform.
4. Metaverse-like, but fun

Normally I’m not a big fan of the metaverse style of illustration/3D art, but I just love the full-on color, wild, and fragile Ecotherapy project from Indian designer Khyati Trehan. Such a joy to watch.
5. It’s ‘standard’ design, but different

Stickers are mostly unseen. They rarely take center stage (sometimes they do and replace labels — see Chiquita — but that’s another story). And yet, they have a unique visual language. Therefore I loved this project that takes mundane stickers and gives them a second life.
That’s all.
Until next month
Cheers,
Andrei
