ARTICLE OF THE MONTH

The article is in Norwegian, but the “translate page” works well enough to get the main points.

1. The Power of Sketches

Sketch for Limbo for Heller — Atlason

I’ve fallen in love with this sketch of a chair. Besides the fact that I find it beautiful, there’s a kind of playfulness and openness that allowed me to imagine countless possibilities of how this would play out in practice. You can sense the possibilities, you can imagine the different textures it can have, colors (or lack of), size, or materials. There are so many possible futures that it made it way more interesting than the final product.

2. Optimist Illustration

Court — Ana Popescu

There’s a visual charm to these illustrations by Ana Popescu, a hidden optimism that shines through these lonely city-scapes. There’s something about this style that makes me want to linger watching them longer. Lovely.

3. City Chaos

Some cities do feel like this sometimes. And it’s kind of crazy to see it like this. It seems almost possible.

4. Lively CGI

Josue is a CGI artist from Mexico who makes these amazing compositions. They are bright, colorful, positive, and full of life, which is interesting to say about something fully generated on a computer.

5. Japanese typography

When I normally think about typography it’s very rare to think about non-Latin typography, even though Asia has a longer typographic history than Europe does. So this was an interesting view. Also love the non-minimal approach.

That’s all.
Until next month

Cheers,
Andrei
